What a long-distance transfer involves
A long-distance transfer is not simply a longer ride: it is a planned journey, with the route decided in advance. What follows applies equally to an Italian route and to a European destination.
The departure
Pick-up is at the address you give us: a hotel, a home, an office, an airport terminal. You choose the time, and on a long route it matters more than usual, because it decides how much daylight you arrive with and how much room is left for a stop.
Stops along the way
On a journey of several hours a short break is arranged with the driver as you go. An address to call at before the final destination, or a town to visit on the way, is a different matter: that is a stop, it is stated in the request, and it affects the route, the timing and the quote. The individual route pages already set out the possible stops, from Orvieto to the Val d'Orcia.
The timings
The times published on this page and on the route pages are driving times in normal conditions. They do not include stops, peak-day traffic, border crossings or the rest breaks the journey requires. On a European trip this is what decides whether one day is enough or an overnight stay is needed, and it is settled in the quote.
Luggage
Luggage belongs in the request, because together with the number of passengers it determines the vehicle category. List hold bags, cabin bags, pushchairs, golf bags, instrument cases and sports equipment.
The vehicles
The saloons — Economy, Business, Electric and Executive — take up to three passengers; above three passengers, or above two hold bags, the category to use is the Van, seating up to eight. We publish no fares for journeys abroad. On an international trip the price depends on the route, the duration, the season, any overnight stays and the vehicle's return journey: every European destination is quoted individually, before any commitment.

How to request a long journey
Few details are needed, but they are needed together: that is what makes a complete quote possible instead of a round of questions.
- Origin and destination, with full addresses and not only the name of the city.
- Date and time of departure, and the return date if the journey is a round trip.
- Number of passengers, counting adults and children separately, with the age, weight and height of the children if child seats are needed.
- Luggage, separating hold bags from cabin bags, and flagging bulky equipment.
- Any stops you want along the way, with how long you want at each.
- Fixed times: a flight to catch, an appointment, an event that will not wait.
Describe the journey and you will have the route, the right vehicle, the timings and the price before any commitment.
Frequently asked questions about journeys in Italy and Europe
How is a quote for a European destination worked out?
From the actual route, the duration of the journey, the season, the number of passengers and the luggage, and whether the vehicle waits or returns. There is no per-kilometre rate that works in every case: two journeys of the same length can have very different conditions. The quote arrives in writing, before any payment.
How are stops and the driver's rest handled on a long journey?
They are planned before departure. On very long routes a single day is not always workable. The quote settles how the journey is divided, where it stops and whether an overnight stay is needed: that is why the price is built case by case.
Who pays tolls, fuel and vignettes, and what documents are needed?
On the Italian routes with a published fare, tolls and fuel are included, as stated in each route's note. On European journeys foreign tolls and vignettes are settled in the quote along with everything else. As for documents, every passenger needs a valid travel document under the rules of the destination country: check it on the official sources before departure.
Can I cancel a journey that is already confirmed?
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the pick-up time. The conditions that apply after that point, and in the event of a no-show, are set out in the Terms and Conditions and are given to you with the confirmation.
How soon will I get an answer?
Requests are handled one at a time, because a long journey means checking the route, availability and timings before quoting a price. We do not state a fixed response time: if you have a deadline — a flight to catch, an event on a set date — say so in the request and it is taken into account. For urgent requests, phone and WhatsApp are the quickest route.
