The motorway climbs the peninsula between the Apennines and the Veneto plain, past hills, vineyards and bell towers. One vehicle, no changes: you leave from your address in Rome and stop only where the road ends — at the edge of the lagoon.

How arriving in Venice works
Venice is a pedestrian island: cars are not allowed in the historic centre. Your chauffeur crosses the Ponte della Libertà and takes you to Piazzale Roma (or Tronchetto), the last point reachable by car. From there your hotel is minutes away: water taxi, vaporetto or a short walk through the calli.
Alternatively we can drop you in Mestre, on the mainland: convenient if your hotel is there, with the historic centre about 10 minutes away by train or tram. State your preference when booking: the fare covers both destinations.

By car the journey takes about 5.5 hours door to door, measured between addresses rather than between stations: you leave from the address you give us and arrive at your destination, with no changes and no trips to and from stations. The train is often quicker on the station-to-station leg alone, and suits travellers with light luggage staying near the arrival station. The car suits larger groups, big luggage or children, addresses far from the stations, and journeys where you want to stop along the way. The actual distance depends on the addresses and on the route chosen: we confirm it in the quote, together with the price.
