Prices for Rome tours with a private driver

The price is per vehicle, not per person: three friends in a sedan pay the same as one person on their own. The sedan carries up to three passengers and the van four to six; for seven or eight passengers the van is available on request, and for larger groups we arrange several vehicles with a quote.

The price covers the car and driver for the whole tour, starting from and returning to the address you give us in Rome, inside the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA) ring road; to start from the airport, the port or somewhere outside Rome, ask us for a quote. Not included: admission tickets to the sites, guided visits inside museums and archaeological areas, and meals. In the booking form the sedan is the Economy+ category and the van is the Minivan; Business, Electric and Executive are quoted on request, as are extra hours and itineraries other than these five.

The five tours, one by one

The itinerary is planned with you: what follows are the combinations that work best in the time available, ready to be adapted to what you want to see. During the tour the driver drops you off and picks you up wherever stopping is allowed, as close as possible to each sight.

Rome tour, 4 hours (half day)

Sedan €220 · Van €290

Just the right length for a first tour of the city, with two or three stops to explore on foot: the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus and the Aventine, then the historic centre with the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Trevi Fountain, all within a few minutes’ walk of one another.

Rome tour, 8 hours (full day)

Sedan €400 · Van €520

A full day in Rome with one booked entry, such as the Colosseum with the Roman Forum or the Vatican Museums, and the rest of the stops in the open air: the historic centre, a view from the Janiculum or the Pincio, Trastevere at the end of the day. Keeping to one paid entry is the rule that makes the day enjoyable: each takes several hours, counting the security checks and the walk through the site.

Rome + Tivoli tour (Villa d’Este)

Sedan €430 · Van €560

Tivoli is about 30 km from Rome, usually 45–60 minutes by car. Villa d’Este, in Tivoli’s historic centre, is the sixteenth-century garden of fountains, with the Avenue of the Hundred Fountains and the Fountain of the Organ; Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana), the residence of the Emperor Hadrian, lies a few kilometres outside the town. Two villas in a day is realistic; three is a rush.

Rome + Castelli Romani tour

Sedan €410 · Van €530

The Castelli Romani are the hill towns of the Alban Hills, south-east of Rome: Frascati for its villas and wine, Castel Gandolfo overlooking Lake Albano, Ariccia for a lunch stop, Nemi for a slower visit. The day works best with two main stops and an optional third, leaving time for lunch; palaces, gardens and tastings are booked separately.

Rome + Appian Way tour

Sedan €350 · Van €450

The Appian Way is the Roman road that runs south from the city walls, with its ancient stone paving and the tombs and catacombs along the way: the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella, Capo di Bove, the Villa of the Quintili. It is not a single site but a large area: you choose the stretch to walk, and the car takes you to the start and picks you up at the end.

How it works, from booking to drop-off

Which tour to choose

First time in Rome, short on time. The four-hour tour gives you a first look at the ancient city and the squares of the centre; the eight-hour tour adds a booked entry and a panoramic view. An hour-by-hour itinerary for the day is in our guide Rome in a day; for tickets and entrances, see our guides to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine and to the Vatican Museums and St Peter’s.

Gardens, fountains and villas. Rome + Tivoli. How to choose between Villa d’Este, Hadrian’s Villa and Villa Gregoriana, and how long to allow for each, is explained in our guide Tivoli from Rome.

Hill towns, the lake and good food. Rome + Castelli Romani: ideas and stops for the day in our guide Castelli Romani in a day.

Ancient Rome beyond the walls. Rome + Appian Way: how to choose the stretch, the visits and where to finish, in our guide to the Appian Way.

Why take a tour with a private driver

A fixed price, per vehicle

The tour price is published and does not change at the end of the day: you know it when you book, and it covers the whole car, not each person.

Door to door, no parking

We pick you up at the address you give us and bring you back there: no rental car to park, no ZTL gates to keep an eye on, no bus or metro connections to catch.

You set the pace

Linger where you like, skip a stop when it is hot: the itinerary adapts to you, to those travelling with children and to anyone who walks less.

Assistance 24 hours a day

Before, during and after the tour, someone answers by phone, WhatsApp and iMessage, 7 days a week.

Frequently asked questions about Rome private driver tours

How much does a Rome tour with a private driver cost?

The four-hour tour costs €220 in a sedan, for up to three passengers, and €290 in a van, for four to six; the eight-hour tour costs €400 and €520 respectively. Rome + Tivoli costs €430 or €560, Rome + Castelli Romani €410 or €530, and Rome + Appian Way €350 or €450. These are fixed prices per vehicle, starting from and returning to Rome.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle: in a sedan for up to three passengers, and in a van for four to six, you pay the same price however many people are on board. For seven or eight passengers the van is available on request; for larger groups we arrange several vehicles with a quote.

Does the driver also act as a tour guide?

The service is a car with a driver: your driver takes you from one stop to the next and picks you up when you have finished. Guided visits inside museums and archaeological areas are led by licensed tour guides, to be booked separately, just like the admission tickets.

Are admission tickets included?

No: the price covers the car and the driver. Tickets, timed entries and guided visits are bought through the sites’ official channels; give the times you have already booked in the notes, and the tour itinerary is built around them.

How do I book and pay?

Through the booking form, by choosing the tour from the Destination menu, or with the buttons on this page, which open the form with the tour already selected. You pay in cash to the driver at the end of the tour with a 30% deposit online, the recommended option, or in full online by card with 10% added; cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start time.
